The S Buys Academy was established in 2000. Its main objectives are the upliftment and up-skilling of individuals in the environment of pharmaceutical service provision.
The Academy has been actively involved with the training of Basic and Post-basic Pharmacist’s Assistants since 2002 and the training of Healthcare Professionals by means of a Dispensing Course since 2004.
Based on their knowledge of the market and commitment to the profession of pharmacy they plan to extend their offering to that of Pharmacy Technician.

|Pharmacist’s Assistant Course:
S Buys Academy is an accredited provider with the SA Pharmacy Council (SAPC) to present the basic and post-basic pharmacist’s assistant courses. The courses each require 12 months in-service-training and is sector specific. S Buys Academy is accredited for training in all 4 sectors of pharmacy (and also offers bringing courses to all (Retail, Hospital, Wholesale and Manufacturing).
|Dispensing Course for Healthcare Professionals:
Act 101 of 1965 requires that a healthcare professional who intends to dispense medicine, must complete a dispensing course when applying for a dispensing license with the Director-General of Health. The S Buys Academy is an accredited provider of this dispensing course. The course is also accredited at the HPCSA as a CPD course and is worth 50 points.
CPD Compliance Tool (Mortar Knowledge):
www.mortarknowledge.co.za is a Continued Professional Development (CPD) tool for pharmacists. It functions as a support mechanism for pharmacists to alleviate the time burden legislation created to stay on par with CPD by means of creating a report in line with SAPC requirements for ease of CPD capturing on the SAPC’s website.
|Standard Operating Systems - “Accredit-it for Healthcare Practitioners”:
Licensed Healthcare Practitioners (HCP’s) and their licensed premises have to comply with the “Good Pharmacy Practice” (GPP) Standards of the SA Pharmacy Council. Accredit it© is a tool to assist HCP’s to comply with all the relevant requirements regarding their dispensing services as well as dispensing premises. It is tailored according to the individual practice and comprises of (1) A quick reference guide to the important aspects of the “Good Pharmacy Practice” document, with which the HCP and his/her dispensing practice have to comply; (2) Policies and SOP’s, which a HCP is required to have and follow in his/her dispensing practice; and (3) An “Audit Checklist” which should be utilized as an assessment tool, to measure whether the HCP and his/her dispensing practice both comply with all the relevant specifications as set out in the GPP.

Overview of Supply Chain Management Course
Effective inventory management of health commodities determines to a greater extent the effective delivery of any health system. S Buys Academy offers an introductory course in Supply Chain Management enabling participants to assess stock status, improve storage and warehousing conditions, serve as an advocate for logistics and implement change in their own systems.
Quantification of Health Commodities Course
Forecasting, quantifying and procuring any commodity requires the ability to effectively and efficiently allocate existing and future resources as well as manage the procurement process. S Buys Academy offers an introductory course in Quantification and Procurement Planning with the goal to increase participants’ knowledge and skills in using a data driven process to (1) Improve accuracy of forecasts; (2) Estimate funding requirements and identify funding sources to meet mid to long term needs; (3) Develop a procurement plan; (4) Understand the utility of software packages in quantification and procurement processes; and (5) Evaluate and respond to environmental or policy constraints to forecasting and procurement planning.
